painful words and anguished screams
follow me into nightmarish dreams
hollow laughter and empty threats
follows this child and he plans his death
an end to screams and insanity
a knife, a noose, a means to feel free
a way to feel other than alone
a final message to a stranger’s phone
sadness despair and misplaced aggression
brought about a futile confession
he apologized for so many things
for what he was going to do, and denying others’ their wings
so now he’d let them fly on their own dreams
and alone he’d leave them, lullabies by the ambulance’s screams.
